The South Peak Loop, the latest long distance ride developed by Peak Horsepower, covers 70 miles of the southern Peak District National Park.
It is a wonderfully varied and stunningly scenic ride on bridleways, old railway trails and quiet country lanes. Whilst it is not a wilderness ride, it still requires a good level of fitness for horse and rider as much of the route is over hilly upland terrain.
The route is waymarked in both directions along public rights of way. There are fewer waymarks where the route follows roads and Trails. Maps and detailed directions (going anti clockwise) are in the sidebar for you to download but you should also take OS map OL24 with you. Also in the sidebar is a list of accommodation providers and a brief questionnaire that we would like you to complete if you ride the route.
